Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams want to enjoy their romance like normal people.
Just over a year after he and the “That’s So True” singer seemingly confirmed their romance during a series of outings in London, the Normal People actor explained why the couple has since preferred to keep their relationship out of the spotlight.
“Everything to do with that is deeply precious to me,” Paul told Rolling Stone of their bond in an interview published Sept. 15. “I want to protect those things fundamentally.”
The 29-year-old’s latest comments about his and Gracie’s private relationship come nearly four months after the daughter of filmmaker J.J. Abrams and Katie McGrath stepped out on the red carpet at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in support of her boyfriend’s new movie History of Sound.
And although she was there to show her support, Gracie and Paul walked the carpet separately. After all, the “I Love You, I’m Sorry” singer has previously made it clear that the constant chatter surrounding her and the Gladiator II actor’s low-key romance is none of her business.
