BBC’s popular series has made a comeback with a special edition as Celebrity Traitors finally kicks off. The latest instalment boasts a host of familiar faces from the realms of television, music, comedy, entertainment and sport. Among the star-studded line-up are comedian Alan Carr, singer Charlotte Church, actor and writer Stephen Fry, Olympian Tom Daley and Netflix sensation Ruth Codd. One participant who confessed in the first episode to possibly being one of the least known is Niko Omilana. Niko was taken aback during the first episode when he discovered that Stephen Fry was familiar with his previous work. On the show, he’s described as a content creator known for executing numerous online pranks. Here are some of his most extravagant stunts, reports the Daily Record . One of his most viewed videos features Niko setting up a counterfeit Apple Store. He alleges that he did this to pressure the company into reducing their prices. To achieve this, he opted to give away free iPhones and iPads in protest against the escalating costs of the company’s tech products. He named the store Not ApPle and situated it just around the corner from the largest actual Apple store on Regent Street. Niko donned a turtle neck jumper and introduced himself as Steve Jobless to welcome customers. Although Niko isn’t officially part of The Sidemen (he’s a member of Beta Squad), he has collaborated with their members, including KSI. Previously, Omilana had managed to infiltrate KSI’s two bouts with Logan Paul and Jake Paul’s professional debut against AnEsonGib, resulting in a ban from future Matchroom Boxing events. However, this didn’t deter him from executing another ringside prank, where he donned a Prime Energy sports drink can costume and accompanied KSI to the ring in disguise. In the 2021 London Mayoral election, Niko, then only 23 years old, ran for office. He finished fifth overall, securing nearly 50,000 votes. Despite not receiving his £10,000 deposit back, he garnered more support than any other independent candidate. Announcing his campaign on Instagram, he declared: “There is no greater leader in this country than me so please my friends, vote Niko for mayor of London on May 6th… or your breath stinks.” His tongue-in-cheek manifesto included telling Boris Johnson to “shush”. Niko secured 2% of the vote share. A documentary about his campaign was featured on Netflix. One of his more recent pranks involved a father who sought Niko’s assistance. Although the video’s description suggested that Niko had infiltrated ‘the biggest red carpet event of the year’, it turned out to be a different scenario. After helping a father named Tudor increase his online subscribers from 300 to 40,000, Niko discovered that Tudor’s dream was to earn a YouTube Play Button for his son, who is battling bone cancer. He orchestrated a film premiere that Tudor was led to believe they were sneaking into. In reality, once they settled into their seats, a unique film about Tudor’s life and his love for his son began to roll. The surprise culminated with Niko presenting him with a Play Button, leaving viewers profoundly touched. The Traitors continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
