For Molly Qerim, hosting ESPN’s ‘First Take’ was a dream job. As she revealed during an interview back in 2017, “You’re talking about things you’d be talking about anyway in your free time. We’re all big sports fans”. First starting out with the network back in 2006, Qerim rose through the ranks, becoming a memorable face amongst a group of other star sportscasters like Stephen A. Smith, Malika Andrews, etc. The confidence that ESPN had in her caused them to offer a new contract to the 41-year-old earlier this year. However, from the looks of it, she has turned that down and is now looking to make a change in regard to her professional career.
A few hours ago, reports emerged that Molly Qerim is leaving both First Take and ESPN altogether. In light of that, Qerim herself soon took to Instagram on Monday night and confirmed her exit. She thanked her ‘First Take’ family, and called hosting the show as “one of the greatest honors of my career”. She expressed her gratefulness over the fact that her journey with ESPN has given her “lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and the chance to be part of something truly special”. However, the one thing she did not reveal was the reason for her exit. All she said was “After much reflection, I’ve decided it’s time to close this incredible chapter and step away from First Take”.

Additionally, Molly Qerim suggested that there was more news to come in her Instagram Story by writing, “Stay tuned” at the end of her statement. Sports Business Journal reporter Ausin Karp claims Qerim will leave at the end of 2025.
