The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has publicly stated that it expects Bangladesh to hand over fugitive Zakir Naik when he arrives in Dhaka, calling him a fugitive wanted by India. The nation has long accused Naik of making hate-speeches and of involvement in money-laundering and other charges. He remains outside Indian jurisdiction. Naik, who is currently based in Malaysia, is expected to visit Bangladesh on November 28-29 to attend a charity program organised by Spark Event Management. The event is planned for Dhaka, possibly in the Agargaon area, and further details will be announced soon, Times Now has learnt. Seven years after the Sheikh Hasina government vowed that Islamic preacher Zakir Naik "will never get access to Bangladesh", the radical preacher will be hosted by the Muhammad Yunus government in the Asian country. Naik was banned from entering Bangladesh after news reports surfaced that at least two of the terrorists behind the attack on Holey Artisan Bakery cafe in Dhaka in July 2016 were "inspired by his preaching about Islam." The NIA first registered a case against Naik under anti-terror laws in 2016 for allegedly promoting enmity between different religious groups. Naik (60) left India in 2016 for Malaysia and has managed to get the permanent residency status there. Naik has said that he would not return to India till he felt "safe from unfair prosecution".
