PHILADELPHIA – Ranger Suarez and the Phillies experienced a scary moment Saturday night.
Ryan Jeffers of the Minnesota Twins hit a line drive with an exit velocity of 106 mpg right back at Suarez in the fifth inning. The ball hit the starting pitcher on the left inner thigh.
Suarez smiled afterwards but he left the game with what the Phillies said was a left inner thing contusion.
Saturday’s start was Suarez’s last of the season before the post season. He gave up nine hits and three runs in 4 ⅓ innings.
