The Chinese film industry is mourning the sudden demise of actor, singer and model, Yu Menglong, also known as Alan Yu, who died on Thursday after falling from a building in Beijing. He was 37. His agency verified the tragic news of his unexpected death, revealing that he died after falling from a skyscraper. Fans are also grieving Yu Menglong’s death as they reflect on his career and contributions to Chinese cinema.
According to Asia One, his team, in an official statement, said, “With unbearable sorrow, we announce that our beloved Menglong fell to his death on Sept 11. Police have ruled out any criminality. We hope he rests in peace and his loved ones remain strong.”
Who Was Yu Menglong?
Born in 1988 in Urumqi, Xinjiang, as per Koreaboo, Yu’s entertainment career began in 2007 when he appeared in the talent reality show My Show! My Style!. Later on, he made his acting debut in the short film The Little Prince, released in 2011, and has since appeared in several Chinese television shows, including Go Princess Go, Love Game in Eastern Fantasy and Feud.
He rose to fame in 2015 after appearing in the historical web show Go Princess Go. After that, he gained widespread recognition for her role in the Television show Eternal Love, Xuan-Yuan Sword: Han Cloud, the web series Legend Of The White Snake, Unstoppable Youth, The Love Last Two Minds and many more.
Not just acting, but Menglong also remained focused on his singing career and released his first album titled Toy in 2015, which turned out to be a hit. His second album, Yu Meng Long, was later released in 2017. His last on-screen appearance was in the 2020 Chinese TV series, The Moon Brightens For You.
According to IMDb, he won the breakthrough actor of the year award at the Golden Bud Network Film and Television Festival in 2019 for his role in the TV series Xin bai niang zi chuan qi. Prior to this, he got the 2018 Jury Award for Newcomer of the Year at China’s Television Series Quality Ceremony.
