Charlie Kirk, a well-known conservative political activist, was shot dead during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday. She added that a suspect who had fired at Kirk from the Losee Center, a building about 200 yards away, had been taken into custody and that the shooter was not a student, as per the Associated Press. US President Donald Trump posted on social media in support of Charlie Kirk. “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot,” he wrote on Truth Social. “A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!” he added. Later, Trump confirmed Kirk’s death. “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. Who Was Charlie Kirk? Kirk was at the university as part of his “American Comeback Tour,” which resumed after a pause. This was the first stop on the tour. The 30-year-old activist is known for founding Turning Point USA, a group that promotes conservative views on college and school campuses. Over the years, Kirk has become a familiar figure in Republican politics, especially among young conservatives. He has also been a strong supporter of Donald Trump. He has promoted false claims about the 2020 US election being stolen and has spoken about unproven theories about the COVID-19 pandemic.
