Dianne Buswell has become a much-loved member of the Strictly Come Dancing team over the years, having made her debut on the BBC One show in 2017. She’s had a partner on every series since joining, reaching the final on two occasions before finally taking home the Glitterball trophy in 2024 alongside comedian Chris McCausland . One of her most successful partnerships came in 2018 when she was paired with YouTube sensation Joe Sugg. The pair’s chemistry extended beyond the dance floor and after the show finished, Dianne and Joe went public with their romance . While we know plenty about Strictly’s Dianne , what do we know about her partner Joe Sugg? Take a look… Joe Sugg is a YouTuber, social media star and TV personality. He was born in Lacock, Wiltshire, where he grew up with his family. The 34-year-old attended The Corsham School in Corsham before embarking on an apprenticeship as a roof thatcher after completing his A-levels. The launch of his YouTube channel, ThatcherJoe, in December 2011 marked the beginning of his online career. Joe is the younger brother of Zoe Sugg. The 35-year-old is a social media star, author and entrepreneur, who began her career on YouTube and is best-known under her online name, Zoella. Zoe launched her YouTube channel in 2009 and has amassed over 10 million subscribers. Her Instagram account boasts an impressive 9.1 million followers. She has become a well-known internet personality, sharing her life on YouTube and Instagram. Zoe’s content focuses on fashion, beauty, lifestyle and parenting. She has released three fiction books, the first of which was Girl Online in 2014, as well as a non-fiction book, Cordially Invited. Zoe has also gained popularity from documenting her long-term relationship with vlogger Alfie Deyes. The duo began dating in 2012 and publicly shared their relationship in 2013 in a blog post. Zoe and Alfie’s first daughter was born in 2021, followed by their second in 2023. The couple, who are engaged, and their daughters, reside in Brighton. Joe’s career kicked off in 2011 with the creation of his YouTube channel, which reached two million subscribers two years after launching. This led to the creation of his vlogging channel, ThatcherJoeVlogs, as well as a gaming channel, ThatcherJoeGames. Joe’s YouTube fame has led to many different career ventures. The star has had many voiceover roles over the years, including Gus in the 2019 film Wonder Park and A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon. He was a member of the YouTube Boyband and featured on the 2014 single Do They Know It’s Christmas ? as part of the Band Aid 30 charity group. He released his debut solo single in 2020 followed by a second single in 2021. Joe starred in the West End production of Waitress as Ogie Anhorn in 2019 and made his acting TV debut in the fourth season of BBC One’s The Syndicate in 2020. He has also collaborated with others on graphic novels and in 2022 released a book titled Grow, a mix of a memoir and guide to reconnecting with nature. Elsewhere, Joe is the co-founder of management company Margravine, now known as MVE, which supports budding digital talent. He and pal Caspar Lee founded the company in 2018. Joe is also the founder of production company Final Straw Productions, which announced a partnership with BBC Studios in 2022. Joe made history in 2018 as the first social media star to appear on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing. He competed on the series with Dianne Buswell, and the pair made it to the final. Joe and Dianne finished in second place and went on to take part in the Strictly Live Tour, where they made history by winning 25 shows in a row, later becoming the overall tour winners with 28 out of 29 wins. Joe and Dianne also competed on the 2019 Strictly Christmas Special. Joe presented the BBC show’s official podcast from 2019 until 2023. Joe and Dianne’s partnership on Strictly blossomed into romance. The pair began dating in 2018 and the following year they publicly confirmed they’d moved in together. The couple have gained huge popularity among Strictly fans, who follow Dianne and Joe’s relationship through social media posts. The pair bought their first home together in 2021, documenting their journey online. In September 2025, Dianne and Joe shared a video on social media announcing they are expecting their first child together. The couple are due to welcome a baby boy next year.
