Karisma Kapoor’s former husband and business tycoon Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12, 2025, leaving behind a fortune worth Rs 30,000 crore. Amid a legal battle over his estate, attention turns to his widow, Priya Sachdev, and the lesser-known details of her life.
Karisma Kapoor is now in court against Priya Sachdev to protect her children’s interests. During Sunjay Kapur’s lifetime, the two never clashed, as he and Priya were involved with their children while Karisma focused on her own family. Priya never had face-to-face encounters with Sunjay’s former wife.
Priya Sachdev’s First Marriage
Priya was first married to American businessman Vikram Chatwal in 2006. Vikram, who is both a businessman and actor with American citizenship, is the founder of Hamsfire Hotels and Resorts. Priya and Vikram’s marriage, celebrated with great pomp, lasted until 2011.
Their wedding was attended by major celebrities from both India and abroad and spanned six days of festivities. The ex-couple has a daughter named Safira Chatwal, who is now 18 years old. Priya Sachdev divorced Vikram Chatwal in 2011.

Priya realized during her pregnancy with Safira that the marriage was not going to last. She shared that sometimes career choices do not always work out as planned, and it isn’t always right. Priya was in her 15-20th week of pregnancy when she understood that her marriage was not right.
