Owen Kenney, a 19-year-old college student from South Carolina, has been missing since Halloween, according to authorities. The Charleston Police Department said in a release that Kenney was last seen walking with friends close to his home at 3 a.m. on Friday, Newsweek has contacted the Charleston Police Department via email to comment on this story outside of normal business hours. The Context Kenney was last seen in footage walking alone onto the Ravenel Bridge pedestrian walkway, according to the police department. His cellphone's last recorded location was also on the bridge. In the footage, he was wearing a black hooded jacket, grey pants and black trainers with white soles. Authorities are continuing to look for him. What To Know Kenney is a resident of Tinton Falls, New Jersey, and graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School, according to The Monmouth Journal. He is a college freshman and transferred to the College of Charleston in January, according to the Post and Courier. The publication said he has not declared a major. The publication said that he is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 155 pounds. He has a light brown buzz cut and tattoos on his right forearm, left shoulder, left shin and knee. Little other information about him is available publicly. What People Are Saying College of Charleston student Holland Cartmill told WCBD: "It's honestly really eerie on campus right now, I would say we're definitely feeling the distance here. I've never seen anything like this before. It's definitely scary. And I just really pray that this doesn't happen again." Red Bank Catholic High School wrote on Facebook: "Owen Kenney, RBC ‘24 is missing in the Charleston, SC area. Please share and pray for his safe return." Owen Kenney's mother wrote on Facebook: "He was minutes from his house but never made it home." "We want Owen to come home," she added. The College of Charleston Department of Public Safety said in a statement: "CofC Public Safety personnel are working diligently to share with Charleston Police any information that may be helpful in the search. "At this time, there is no reason to believe that there is any danger to the campus community in relation to this case. The police said in a statement: "While we recognize the tremendous public interest and concern surrounding this case, it is important to remember that at the heart of this investigation is a family searching for their loved one." What Happens Next Authorities will continue searching for Kenney using multiple resources including an underwater recovery team, K9 unites and harbor patrol, the police said. The Charleston Police Department said that anyone with information should contact them on 843-720-2422 or submit information via the website www.charleston-sc.gov/tips. The College of Charleston said it was offering free and confidential counselling to students affected by Kenney's disappearance.
