Who Is Michael Kim's Caddie? Lifestyle, Career & More Explored

Michael Kim‘s year has been far from an easy one. Although he showed flashes of brilliance, especially his runner-up finish at the VM Phoenix Open, Kim has struggled with multiple missed cuts. Coupled with a withdrawal due to a back injury at the Truist Championship, 2025 hasn’t exactly been forgiving. However, to keep him on the right track and support him through the slumps, his caddie, Danny Stout, has been a constant presence.
Michael Kim came into the spotlight during his pairing with Temple LaRue in his 2013 US Open debut. It was also when the crowds cheered for the caddie more than Kim. However, Danny Stout has been a much more recent figure holding his bags. Despite that, the duo has shown significant chemistry. Stout helped Kim bring his 6th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. With the pairing still going strong, let’s learn more about Kim’s on-course supporting pillar.

Danny Stout’s career spans beyond golf
Before Danny Stout ever held a club, he could be seen on the baseball pitches. Competing at Southern Mississippi at the college level, Stout served as a pitcher. Moving to the Central Professional Baseball League, a minor baseball league, the now caddie played 3 seasons from 2001 to 2003.
His first professional team was the Greenville Bluesman. In 2002, Stout turned heads around with an impressive innings record for 33 2/3 innings without giving up a single run for the Alexandria Aces. The next year, Stout played for the Jackson Senators, where he finally started getting recognized as a sensational pitcher. During his final year at the baseball league, Stout served as a pitcher for the professional team, the Milwaukee Brewers. However, just as things were starting to fall into place, his baseball career was cut short due to a shoulder injury.

Following the surgery, Stout tried his shot at professional golf. Participating in developmental tours, like the Hooters Tour and the Tar Heel Tour, Stout found his way into the courses. However, Stout showed a greater knack for managing the clubs and helping with player strategy. Soon, Stout made his caddying career debut, first holding the bags for Ben Bates in 2007. However, after a brief time with the bags, Stout took a hiatus from his caddying career. Returning to the courses after almost a decade, Robert Allenby and Stout soon became an inseparable duo. However, after the decade-long break from the circuit, the return was marked with challenges.
During his first tournament with Allenby at the 2017 Digital Ally Open, their relationship faced an early tension. At the par-5 13th, Allenby aggressively hit a shot with a club that Stout felt was the wrong one for the hole. However, he kept his silence since he didn’t want to contradict one of the world’s top players. Fate would have it that the exact shot ended up turning into a bogey after ending birdie chances rolling into a bunker. That hole contributed to Allenby missing the cut by 2 shots. Things didn’t look pretty, and Stout felt that Allenby would fire him.
However, being ever transparent, Stout took responsibility. “After the tournament was over I was sure that was the end of it, but I told him I wanted to talk about that shot and I said I was wrong, and I just wanted to let him know that was my fault and wanted to know how to do it in a better way in the future.” That took Allenby by surprise, who invited Stout for dinner with his family. The duo discussed caddying, getting to Allenby’s game better, and fostering chemistry. That conversation opened a different plane of trust between the duo, showing early signs of a long-term relationship.
Stout ended up caddying for Allenby in many subsequent events. Although fans cannot see the pair together anymore, their relationship remains strong. In fact, Allenby was the officiator of Stout’s wedding with Samantha Troyanovich, another player on the LPGA tour.
This incident is not just the story of Danny Stout’s advent into caddying as a career. It also reflects his traits like calm under pressure, communication, and professionalism. Not only did that move his partners’ leaderboards, but it also shone through in his own personal life and his relationships. Speaking of which, the caddie’s personal life is just as intriguing as his caddying career.
Danny Stout’s life beyond the courses
Happily married to Samantha Troyanovich, the couple met when Troyanovich was still in her rookie season. Nothing short of a romantic movie, Stout caddied for both Allenby and Troyanovich, which led to them growing closer. And Allenby wasn’t just a passerby in the story. Playing the voluntary wingman for Stout, the caddie proposed Troyanovich at Allenby’s house in early 2018. The couple tied the knot in December 2018, and Allenby earned the nickname “Father Bob” by officiating their wedding.

Aside from his romantic life, Stout still enjoys his passion for baseball. Danny Stout has served as the Head Coach for the Wave Travel Baseball 12U Team since 2009. He has also acted as a scorer for the baseball games of the Cincinnati Reds’ Class AA Pensacola Blue Wahoos since 2014. But Stout also enjoys golfing, even if he doesn’t compete at the big stages. This reflects his undying passion for athletic endeavours, whether that’s on the golf courses or as a pitcher. Besides his sports spin-off, Stout is a realtor with the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Beach Properties of Florida.
Balancing his love for sports with a thriving career off the field, Danny Stout exemplifies dedication, passion, and versatility.
