A 2009-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Sarfaraz Ahmad, is the new Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL). Telangana government issued the orders on Tuesday (September 16, 2025) giving him Full Additional Charge (FAC) of the post, relieving N.V.S. Reddy, IRAS.

An Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur graduate, Mr. Ahmad holds B. Tech in Aerospace Engineering.

He is currently serving as Metropolitan Commissioner of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Managing Director of Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited, and Project Director of the Outer Ring Road. He earlier served as Municipal Commissioner of Warangal, District Collector of Karimnagar, Commissioner of Prohibition & Excise, and Joint Chief Electoral Officer.
