Alex Pereira’s fists have carved him into UFC history. But he isn’t the only fighter in the family. His younger sister, Aline Pereira, has also walked the combat sports path. From Glory kickboxing to MMA and now Karate Combat, her career has taken many turns.
Yet while Alex prepares to face Magomed Ankalaev in a rematch for the title at UFC 320 on October 4, Aline’s story raises different questions. How successful has she really been? What are her records? And why does her career remain underwhelming compared to her famous brother?
Meet Aline Pereira, Alex Pereira’s sister
Much like Alex Pereira, his sister also has roots in the Pataxo tribe of the Bahia region in Brazil. Moreover, she is not all that younger than her UFC star brother, since she’s 34 years old as of 2025.
Both of them train under the retired UFC legend Glover Teixeira, who has been instrumental in shaping their fighting careers. Aline often posts pictures and videos of her brother Alex and is present at his fights. Similarly, ‘Poatan’ supports Aline in her fights. They celebrate each other’s successes, and the fact that they follow the same career path adds to the bond they share.
Aline has been competing in kickboxing since 2017 and has made a name for herself on the international kickboxing circuit. She competed in eight bouts, winning six, and even fought for the Glory Super Bantamweight title in 2021. Though she lost, the chance itself marked her as a serious contender. Still, when she switched to MMA, things got harder. And her record reflects that.
Aline Pereira’s MMA record, losses & stats
By the time she entered MMA, Aline was already in her thirties. She made her debut in November 2022 at LFA 147 against Helen Peralta. It ended in a unanimous decision loss.
Her second fight came in June 2023 at LFA 160, where she bounced back with a decision win over Chelsea Conner. Momentum seemed possible, but just months later, at LFA 168, she lost again by unanimous decision to Cheyanne Bowers. That left her pro MMA record at 1-2.
For a fighter hoping to match her brother’s legacy, this wasn’t the start she needed. But Aline didn’t give up. She looked for a fresh start in another arena. In 2024, she decided to compete in Karate Combat, which is based in Dubai.
Aline Pereira’s career in Karate Combat
Her debut came at Karate Combat 50 in October, where she scored a first-round knockout over Dee Begley. Three months later, at Karate Combat 52, she dropped Amanda Torres with a clean left hook and finished the fight in round two. The victories brought new life to her career.
Then, in July 2025, she faced Fani Peloumpi for the inaugural Karate Combat Women’s Flyweight Championship. After three rounds, she won by unanimous decision, becoming the promotion’s first-ever champion in the division.
Her success in Karate Combat has given her the spotlight she couldn’t find in MMA. But still, Alex and Aline Pereira celebrate each other’s successes and take pride in each other’s achievements. They understand the challenges that come with pursuing a career in MMA, and their shared experiences have only strengthened their bond. While Alex Pereira was making waves in the UFC, his sister wasn’t at that level yet, so she also worked for Amazon, and her brother fully supported that.
But when a reporter got a chance to speak with Alex Pereira, he mentioned his sister’s Amazon work with a bit of a negative undertone. Guess what? The former UFC light heavyweight champion didn’t like that even one bit and blasted the reporter for his comments. “If you had no bad intentions you could have asked if I helped in any way but you knew if you prolonged the conversation, you wouldn’t have good material [to use],” ‘Poatan’ stated on Instagram.
They support each other, celebrate each other’s victories, and defend each other when critics come calling. But when fans compare the two, one truth stands out: Alex Pereira’s legacy is already carved in stone, while Aline Pereira is still searching for her defining moment.
