I got a sales call on my work line the other day and the person asked if they could speak to the business owner. I laughed. Not only was telling them that MinnPost has no owner a great way to get rid of a sales rep, it’s also the truth.
As a nonprofit, MinnPost isn’t beholden to a corporate owner who only cares about the bottom line. Instead, we’re driven by a mission to serve the people of Minnesota with essential journalism. And we’re funded in large part by the people of Minnesota: Over 57% of our 2025 revenue is budgeted to come from individuals, including 22% from people giving less than $1,000 per year.
This also means we don’t have a billionaire owner that’s going to step in and save the day if we don’t meet budget goals. But we do have a steady stream of donors giving $5/month, $10/month and so forth who keep the lights on at MinnPost.
Our in-depth, critical reporting isn’t possible without the collective support of our readers. So, we’re asking you to join us with a donation of any amount right now to support this necessary local journalism. Will you give now?
Our nonprofit newsroom is ready to cover the biggest issues facing our state as we round out the year and head into 2026. Will you join us?
P.S. MinnPost may be a small organization, but that doesn’t stop us from producing heavy-hitting journalism on the forces at play in Minnesota. Will you back this critical work with a donation of any amount right now?
