Whitmer appoints judge in Huron County

BAD AXE, MI — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has announced the appointment of Julienne Ferris to the Huron County Probate Court, where she will also serve as the 73-B District Court judge.
“I’m proud to appoint Julienne to the bench in Huron County,” Whitmer said in a statement. “As a skilled legal professional with a commitment to Huron County, I am confident Julienne will serve the people of Michigan admirably and uphold the rule of law.”
Ferris is a partner and attorney at Ferris, Schwedler & O’Mara, P.C. in Bad Axe, where she specializes in family and probate law matters. Ferris previously served as an associate attorney at Deming, Parker, Hoffman, Campbell & Daly, LLC, in Atlanta, Georgia. Ferris is also a board member at Thumb Area Transit as well as a current member and the former president of the Huron County Bar Association.
Ferris holds a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education from the University of Georgia and a Juris Doctor from the Florida Coastal School of Law.
“I would like to thank Governor Whitmer for appointing me Huron County Probate Judge,” Ferris said. “It will be my honor and privilege to serve the people of Huron County.”
This appointment will be made to fill a partial term, expiring Jan. 1, 2027, following the resignation of Judge David Herrington.
