The American League West champion Mariners finished the regular season with a 90-72 record and a 51-30 mark at T-Mobile Stadium. The Tigers are off the Division Round after defeating their AL Central rival Cleveland Guardians in three games in the best-of-three AL Wild Card round. Detroit is expected to start right-hander Troy Melton, who went 3-2 with a 2.76 ERA in 16 regular-season appearances (four starts) in Saturday’s Game 1, while the Mariners will start righty George Kirby (10-8, 4.21 ERA).
