Tens of thousands of Sonoma and Napa county residents are set to see food aid suspended Saturday by the Trump administration, which has moved to pause the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP benefits, amid the ongoing federal government shutdown. Here is where to find free food in Sonoma and Napa counties. Hours and services listed are current as of Oct. 28, 2025. Readers should call ahead as schedules may adjust during the shutdown. CalFresh application assistance is available Monday-Wednesday and Friday (closed Thursday) from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. – To receive a list of Sonoma County-only food distributions by ZIP code, text “FOOD” to 707-353-3882 or visit textfood.org for details. – Services: Groceries and prepared food through more than 150 distribution sites countywide. – Expanded operations: Starting this week, additional groceries are being sent to 14 high-capacity locations across the county to meet rising demand.
