Sean “Diddy” Combs was transferred to Fort Dix prison in October 2025 to serve out his 50-month prison sentence. A spokesperson for the Bureau of Prisons confirmed on October 30, 2025, that Diddy was officially relocated to the New Jersey federal corrections institute from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he’d been held since his arrest in September 2024. At the time of his arrest, Diddy pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of sex trafficking and two counts of transportation for prostitution. In July 2025, he was convicted of the two transportation charges but acquitted on the two counts of sex trafficking and one count of racketeering conspiracy. Judge Arun Subramanian additionally fined Diddy $500,000 and ordered him to complete five years of supervised release once he finishes his sentence. (Diddy has always denied any wrongdoing.) The prison where Diddy will serve the remainder of his 50-month sentence was founded more than 100 years ago as a military camp and has previously housed notable inmates such as Real Housewives of New Jersey alum Joe Giudice and convicted fraudster Martin Shkreli (a.k.a. “Pharma Bro”). FCI Fort Dix was initially founded as a military installation for training troops in 1917 when it was known as Camp Dix. A portion of the property was converted into a low-security prison for inmates in 1992 and renamed Fort Dix. Fort Dix is the largest low-security federal prison in the country. Where Is Diddy’s Prison Located? Fort Dix prison is located around 75 miles south of New York City in Burlington County, New Jersey. How Many Inmates Can Diddy’s Prison Hold? According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Fort Dix held 3,923 inmates at the corrections institution and 205 at its satellite camp in October 2025. The facility was built to house around 4,000 inmates. What Do the Cells Look Like? Fort Dix doesn’t have traditional prison cells. Instead, the prison has dormitory units that can house 12 total inmates in six bunk beds. These dormitory-style accommodations for inmates were retrofitted from traditional military barracks when the prison was remodeled in the early 1990s. Each inmate is given a metal locker for their belongings. There is one bathroom area per floor, which includes multiple showers for the inmates to use. Diddy, however, will be housed in a special unit of the prison that is dedicated to drug treatment instead of serving time with the general population, ABC News reported. Did Diddy Want to Serve His Sentence at This Prison? Yes. Diddy’s legal team specifically requested that the disgraced mogul serve his sentence at Fort Dix because of its drug treatment program, according to ABC News. If Diddy were to complete the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ Residential Drug Abuse Program, his 50-month prison sentence could be reduced. A letter from Diddy’s attorneys to Judge Subramanian suggested that the musician would be able to “address drug abuse issues” and “maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts” if he were allowed to serve time at Fort Dix. What Will Diddy’s Daily Routine Look Like in Prison? According to reports, prisoners at Fort Dix wake up around 6 a.m. ET for morning announcements and then attend breakfast in the dining hall 30 minutes later. After breakfast, prisoners take part in a morning head count so that Fort Dix staff can ensure that all inmates are present. Prisoners begin their work assignment or education programs at 8 a.m. ET. Working assignments can include helping in food service, painting or doing laundry. Lunch is served for one hour starting at 11 a.m. ET. Inmates then return to work until 4 p.m. ET, when they take part in another head count. Dinner takes place at 5 p.m. ET in the dining hall, followed by a few hours of recreation time. A third and final prisoner count takes place at 9 p.m. ET. Inmates must return to their bunks to sleep by 11 p.m. ET. What Is the Menu at Diddy’s Prison? The menu at Fort Dix is determined by the Federal Bureau of Prisons on a nationwide basis. For example, the national menu for 2024 included hot and cold breakfast items on a rotating weekly basis, including fruit and bran flakes as well as warm oatmeal and coffee. The lunch menu offered chicken tacos, fried chicken, a hamburger or select vegetarian options depending on the day, plus sides such as cilantro rice and pinto beans. For dinner, inmates receive a rotating menu that includes chili cheese fries, baked chicken, baked fish or beef nachos, among other items. Special holiday variations for the national menu are offered on select dates. A former inmate who served 17 months at Fort Dix exclusively told Us Weekly that the food will probably not meet the standards Diddy was accustomed to in his previously lavish lifestyle. “The food is the same as all federal facilities, same menu, it’s a national menu,” he told Us. “Murder Burger Wednesdays, Roast Chicken Thursdays — they call it roast chicken, but it’s like chicken they throw on the floor, pick up and throw on the trays.” Does Diddy Have Access to the Prison Commissary? Yes. Provided that Diddy does not face any infractions for misbehavior behind bars, he will have access to a range of products and services offered in Fort Dix’s commissary. Diddy can purchase snacks like cookies, chips and rice cakes and personal items including vitamins, haircare and dental products, body soap and shaving accessories. Inmates can use their commissary credits on copy cards for any legal documents they’re working on, plus buy stamps and photo tickets. What Is the Required Uniform at Diddy’s Prison? Diddy and all other inmates are required to wear a specific uniform during the daytime and for the duration of all visitation periods. The Fort Dix uniform includes khaki button-down shirts — there are short and long-sleeve varieties — as well as khaki pants and prison boots. In the evenings, inmates are usually allowed to wear select personal clothing that has been approved by the prison staff. What Are Diddy’s Possible Work Options in Prison? The Federal Bureau of Prisons requires inmates to work “if they are medically able.” Prisoners can assist in food service or the laundry or work as an “inmate orderly, plumber, painter or groundskeeper.” “Inmates earn 12¢ to 40¢ per hour for these work assignments,” the FBP confirmed on its website. Which Recreational Activities Are Offered at Diddy’s Prison? Diddy will be able to take part in organized sports, including basketball, soccer and softball, or he can exercise in the gym with weightlifting equipment. He will also have the option to play pool with other inmates. There are select classes available, including arts and crafts sessions as well as courses from the local community college. Psychology and counseling services are offered too. The first floor of the prison has eight telephones where inmates can make personal calls. Are There Health Services in Diddy’s Prison? The Bureau of Prisons offers medical, dental and mental health care for all inmates, including specialized care for chronic conditions. Inmates can take advantage of primary medical care, as well as pharmacy and psychiatric services. When prisoners are ill, they generally engage in a sick-call procedure where they can make an appointment with an onsite physician. Following this appointment, assessments are made about whether they will need specialized care to treat their medical issue. Have There Been Incidents of Violence at Diddy’s Prison? Yes. There have been numerous instances of violence reported even though Fort Dix is a low-security prison. The Associated Press reported in November 2021 that a dispute among inmates led to one prisoner being stabbed in the eyeball. At the time of reporting, the injured man had been hospitalized for more than 10 days but was expected to survive. The former inmate told Us Weekly that Fort Dix’s status as a low-security corrections institute doesn’t mean there isn’t significant danger. “My opinion, it’s called low-security, but it’s not really,” the former inmate told Us. “A lot of people who are there are there because they are coming down from longer sentences at other facilities. There is violence. Maybe not the same as other high-security facilities, but it happens all the time.” What Have Former Inmates Said About Diddy’s Prison? One notable former inmate, Bravo star Joe Giudice, claimed to Fox News in October 2025 that he personally witnessed gang violence while serving time at Fort Dix as part of his 41-month sentence for bankruptcy fraud, conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and income tax fraud. “[These guys] just, like, stabbed each other as they’re walking across the track,” he recalled. “It’s like you’ve barely even seen anything, but you know, they just, like, stabbed each other for whatever reason, you know, whatever it was.” The first former inmate described a frequently frantic environment inside the nation’s largest low-security federal prison. “I was there a day and a half and I met this kid and I said, ‘This isn’t a jail, this is an insane asylum!’ He agreed. It was a zoo,” he told Us. Will Diddy’s Prison Sentence Be Reduced? Diddy has a variety of options that could allow for his sentence to be reduced. If he completes the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ Residential Drug Abuse Program, he could have his sentence cut by “up to one year.” Additional time could be taken off his 50-month sentence as part of the First Step Act, where he would take part in training courses about returning to society without re-offending. Will Diddy Be Pardoned by President Donald Trump? CNN reported in August 2025 that Diddy’s attorney Nicole Westmoreland approached Donald Trump’s White House about a potential pardon or a commutation of the rapper’s prison sentence. “It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,” she said. President Trump told reporters during an Oval Office press conference in October 2025 that Diddy’s team had indeed “asked me for a pardon.” “I’ll take a look at it,” Trump said. “I will speak to the Justice Department.” However, a White House official told Us later that month that there was no truth to reports that Trump was considering commuting Diddy’s sentence. The Trump administration official clarified that the president makes all final decisions regarding pardons and commutations. In May 2025, Trump controversially pardoned reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley following their 2019 conviction on bank fraud, wire fraud and tax evasion charges.
