Where is Bear? Emmerdale confirms massive twist ahead

Retired in-ring combatant Bear, as viewers know, left the village after a number of clashes with son Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) earlier this year. Paddy had become increasingly concerned about Bear’s behaviour, wondering if his father might have dementia. Further clashes ensued as Bear warned Paddy to stay out of his business and, after a particularly brutal outburst in the wake of Paddy being attacked, he took leave of absence from the village, claiming he was going to visit a friend in Ireland. But such a trip never took place. Aside from a small appearance in July, which saw the wrestler alone in a field and evidently living out of his car, there has been little information given about where Bear is and what has happened to him since he left the village. Bear’s whereabouts will soon be revealed (Picture: ITV) However, that all changes next week, with a special episode centred solely on the storyline in question that will fill in all the blanks. A new trailer, which you can watch above, sees Paddy put two and two together, realising that his estranged dad isn’t in Ireland like he initially thought. Where is Bear in Emmerdale? All we know so far Bear’s whereabouts has been the subject of much speculation among Emmerdale fans, though very little is known, with the ITV soap keeping the ‘major subject’ of the story under wraps. Speaking to us earlier this year prior to his on-screen departure, actor Joshua Richards said: ‘I’m really looking forward to coming back.’ ‘I do love to work. I’m not mad on inactivity for long periods of time, as any actor is if one could be there doing something and having the great fun of taking on a major storyline. It’s exciting.’ Bear was last seen on our screens in July (Picture: ITV) Joshua also ruled out the theory that his on-screen alter-ego has dementia. He said: ‘Luckily there’s no dementia, but he’s like somebody with dementia stumbling off into the countryside, not knowing who they are or where they’re going or what their purpose in life is.’ Fans speculated that Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) could have a connection to Bear after he picked up a picture of the wrestler while staying at Tenant’s with Paddy, while Ray Walters actor Joe Absolom confirmed that he’d filmed scenes with Bear down the line. What’s more, when announcing the special Bear episode, Emmerdale referred to Bear as being ‘sadly trapped in an all too common situation for a forgotten generation,’ but as for what that situation is remains a mystery. The discovery leaves Paddy fearful of what might’ve happened to Bear, who was struggling prior to his departure. Bear, meanwhile, is seen in a remote location – the question is: where exactly is he? And what has kept him away from the village for so long? Next week’s episode is one of two very special standalone offerings of the ITV serial, with Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and his history with Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) at the centre of the other. ‘There’s a thing that leads into that flashback episode which explains a lot about how our relationship with us in the first place,’ actor Chris Coghill revealed. Both editions of the soap will hit screens next week. Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX and YouTube.
