When You Can Get a Free Reusable Cup

Starbucks is bringing back its festive reusable cup giveaway — or Red Cup Day — just ahead of the holidays. On Oct, 20, the coffee giant announced that Red Cup Day will return on Thursday, Nov. 13. Customers who purchase a handcrafted holiday beverage of any size that day will receive an additional grande-sized reusable red holiday cup. According to Starbucks, a handcrafted beverage is any drink handmade by a barista. On Nov. 6, the coffee chain will launch its Holiday Menu which will feature festive drinks like Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brulée Latte, Iced Sugar Cookie Latte and Iced Gingerbread Chai. Starbucks Red Cup Design Has Yet To Be Revealed Starbucks has yet to reveal this year’s cup design, but past designs have included seasonal elements like ornaments and wintry themes. This year’s cups, as always, will be available at participating stores while supplies last. Starbucks Gets Busy On Red Cup Day Starbucks calls its Red Cup Day “a beloved tradition for Starbucks customers” that brings many customers into its coffeehouses. In 2024, a TikTok from user @bridgettdigtt went viral showing how much busier the coffee chain gets on the reusable cup-heavy holiday. “Be nice to Starbucks baristas today for free Red cup day ❤️,” read an on-screen caption by the TikToker, showing many drinks ready for pickup. And on social media, folks are already sharing their excitement for the upcoming day. “I’m totally getting a red cup! I get one every year. It’s my own little tradition ❤️🎄,” wrote one commenter on TikTok. “My favorite time of year 😊,” wrote an Instagram user. Starbucks says that it will be adding more baristas in stores on Red Cup Day to greet customers, craft beverages and “bring the day to life” as part of its “Back to Starbucks” strategy. Other Changes Coming to Starbucks In other Starbucks news, the chain has been testing various forms of AI technology such as a tool for baristas called “Green Dot Assist” that was designed to “help baristas in real time” as well as with inventory, voice ordering and more.
