Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie recently announced his marriage to Carolyn Moffa, Senator Rand Paul's former staffer. This announcement came over a year after the death of his wife, Rhonda Massie, who died on June 27, 2024. Rhonda and Thomas Massie were high school sweethearts and share four children.On November 2, 2025, Thomas Massie took to his X account to break the news about his wedding to Moffa, writing that the couple was legally married on October 19, 2025, in Kentucky. In the post, Massie further wrote that he first met Carolyn Grace Moffa professionally over a decade ago, while she was employed under Senator Rand Paul. He added that Moffa had visited him and his late wife at their farm in Kentucky. In the post, he also spoke about his children and grandchildren "from my blessed 31 year marriage to Rhonda who I still miss every day."Thomas Massie added that he and Moffa will continue to live on the Kentucky farm while commuting "back-and-forth to DC and throughout Kentucky as my congressional responsibilities require." The congressman also shared a fun fact from their wedding, adding that he served raw milk with the wedding cake."Of course we served raw milk with the wedding cake and margaritas made with frozen peaches from our farm! Senator Rand Paul and Representatives Jim Jordan, Warren Davidson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Victoria Spartz attended, however the real VIPs were my three grandkids. My oldest grandson was the ring bearer. I proposed to Carolyn on the steps of the Library of Congress which was the location of our first date," he wrote.Rhonda and Thomas Massie got married in 1993According to her obituary, Rhonda Kay Howard Massie was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on March 20, 1973. She was one of five children and had four brothers. Rhonda and Thomas Massie reportedly met at Lewis County High School, where Rhonda was made valedictorian when she graduated in 1991. In 2016, Massie posted a throwback picture of himself and Rhonda at their high school prom in 1989. Rhonda married Massie Thomas on August 28, 1993, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from M.I.T. in 1995. She played an "integral part" in starting Sensable Technologies in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with Thomas Massie.The couple moved to Rhonda's family farm in Garrison, Kentucky, after the arrival of their children, sons Mason and Justin, and daughters Elizabeth and Sarah. Rhonda's obituary described her as someone who was "always positive, never spoke ill of others, and remained humble.""She cooked and played music with and for the people she loved. Her family was the thing she was most proud of. Rhonda relished in being a wife, mother, daughter and mamaw. Always most happy to be behind the scenes, she was her husband’s closest advisor and more importantly his peace away from politics. Two weeks after her death, the Kentucky congressman took to X again to address the theories, adding that while he initially reacted "with indignation," he soon found humor in the situation, as she knew his late wife "would have laughed.""Although I first reacted with indignation to internet conspiracy theories about her death, I’ve since been amused because I know Rhonda would have laughed, and if I were on the outside I might have similar concerns.""Without violating her privacy, I can dismiss some of those theories by disclosing: she did not take the COVID shots (we were both seropositive by the time they became available), our house is very secure, family was in the house the night she passed, and an autopsy has been conducted (we do not yet have results)," he continued.In other news, Thomas Massie is one of the many congress members pushing for the U.S Department of Justice to release the Jeffrey Epstein files.
