Netflix is yet to confirm a release date for the fifth and what will be the final season of The Witcher. However, there are some clues as to when fans may expect it to arrive. According to multiple reports, season four and five were filmed back to back. Season four officially wrapped filming in October 2024, which means it took a year to go from post-production to release day. Forbes claim that season five finished filming just last month. If it continues the same time frame to be ready for the viewing public that means that fans should expect episodes to land on Netflix in September 2026 at the earliest. Netflix have sometimes altered or drawn out releases for its biggest hits, such as Stranger Things final season landing in three parts. However, The Netflix adaptation of The Witcher has received plenty of criticism for making significant changes to the books. As a result, it is not yet known how the story will end in this version. So we will have to wait and see if Geralt and Yennefer manage to reunite with Ciri and what her ultimate fate is. We can look to the original books for some idea of what will happen. However, the answer to this question is surprisingly complex. In short, do Geralt and Yennefer find Ciri in the books? Yes and no. While all the main characters eventually reunite during a final battle against Vilgefortz at Stygga Castle, it is more Ciri who finds Geralt and Yennefer. She actually saves them more than once and leaves them not knowing if they will survive following a riot in Rivia between humans and non-humans. The book ends with Ciri telling her story to Galahad, one of the knights found in Arthurian mythology. Ciri has the ability to travel through space and time in the books and has ended up in the story and world of King Arthur. The Witcher games act like a sequel to the books and in particular the third title, Wild Hunt, tells a version of what happens when Ciri returns. The Witcher is streaming on Netflix.
