IT: Welcome to Derry is HBO‘s long-awaited follow-up to Andy Muschietti‘s chilling 2017 and 2019 IT films. Set in the 1960s, we get to meet a new generation of Losers as they try to survive the terrifying clown known as Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård). The series pulls deep from Stephen King‘s works, diving into the note that none other than The Shining‘s Dick Hallorann (Chris Chalk) was in Derry for Pennywise’s last reign of terror before encountering the Loser’s Club as kids… IT: Welcome to Derry opens in 1962, almost 28 years before the 2017 adaptation of IT is set. Mike Hanlon’s grandfather Leroy (Jovan Adepo) and his best friend Pauly (Rudy Mancuso) have been stationed in Derry because of Cold War threats from Russia (across the North Pole). However, as the Hanlons settle into the seemingly idyllic all-American town, they soon learn that Derry is not as safe it seems. Great evil is bubbling beneath its Norman Rockwell-esque surface.
