Of course Manchester United would have preferred for Marcus Rashford to be returning to something like his best at Old Trafford rather than at Camp Nou. But the fact of the matter is that was never going to happen. It would be remiss to suggest - as some pundits have - that Ruben Amorim was the problem. Rashford had suffered dips in form and been embroiled in disciplinary sagas before Amorim had stepped foot in the Old Trafford dugout, and the head coach was right to ship him out in the summer. United needed to move on and Rashford needed to move on. Rashford will never play for United again, that much is clear. And the onus is on the club and the player to make sure a permanent move away is secured next summer. Rashford is doing just about all he can to ensure that end goal is reached, with five goals and six assists from his first 12 games in Barcelona representing a healthy return from the England international. Rashford is clearly enjoying his football and that can only be good news for United. Amorim will know it's within United's best interests for Rashford to be playing with a smile on his face and subsequently producing his best football over in La Liga. The United boss was asked this week whether he was happy that Rashford had found a place where he is happy, and he told Sky Sports : "I am happy for all the players, they deserve to be happy. Sometimes you are in the place that is not for you but then you go to another place and you are happier, that is natural. I feel the same with Rasmus (Hojlund), I feel the same with a lot of players; with Antony, he has found his place. "I'm happy with them, I don't have any personal problem with anyone here. I was a footballer, I know how they suffer, I know how they think, so I am really happy for all of them that they have found the right spot." Of course, on a human level alone Amorim will be pleased to see Rashford enjoying his football again. Their relationship may have deteriorated but Amorim was keen to stress there is no bad blood from his side. But he will know United can only stand to profit from Rashford's return to form.
