He was a multi-sport athlete who played football, basketball, and ran track. He was a two-time team captain for McDonogh School, leading the team to an 11-1 record and a runner-up in the Maryland A conference. His junior season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In his senior year, he was selected to play in the 2022 All-American Bowl and the Polynesian Bowl, but was sidelined due to injury. He finished 40 tackles (21 solo), six sacks, and two forced fumbles as a sophomore, and 14 stops (3 solo) as a freshman. Penn State was not on his college list until the top athletes of his school joined Penn State, which is two hours away from where he lives.
