While Daphne mostly stays inside her own content bubble, streaming herself creating digital art or variety gaming, recently, she found herself as the subject of some drama on the r/LivestreamFail subreddit. While streaming with OTK-associated content creator Wake Wilder, 39daph touched on a childhood memory involving a fish that her cousin gifted her:"I can tell you about the time I killed my fish when I was 10. So, I had a betta fish by a cousin when I was like 10..."For context, a betta fish is an aquatic animal characterized by brightly colored bodies and long, flowing fins. Daphne then went on to talk about how "torturing" this fish became entertainment for her in times of boredom:"After a couple months... I got bored, so I started torturing the fish with a straw. Where I would pin it against the side of the container with a straw and rip its fins out."39daph talking about the time she slowly mutilated/tortured her betta fish so it couldn't swim anymore before eventually just ripping out all its fins and flushing it down the toilet byu/Rat-Loser inLivestreamFailShe went into more graphic detail, talking about how she kept the fish alive with its damaged fins. Eventually, she ended up flushing it down the toilet:"And then, eventually, I just took it out of the water and just started ripping the fins straight out and then flushed it down the toilet."In terms of a motive behind her actions, 39daph spoke on not having appropriate guidance during her childhood:"Something went wrong in my life when I was a kid... Nobody ever told me not to do that... I was like hypnotized, it was a very strange feeling... it felt really good. ('What was so good about it?' asked Wake Wilder) It was something you shouldn't be doing."xQc reacts to 39daph's childhood fish storyAfter 39daph initially spoke on how she treated her fish as a child, streamer Felix "xQc" reacted, visibly shocked:"Guys, what the f**k am I watching, man?"Felix also said that Daphne's "tone" in her statements added to the controversy:"I don't think we should cancel her... The tone of it is just like, what the f**k?"In related news, Twitch streamer HasanAbi went viral in October 2025 for allegedly shocking his dog, Kaya, leading to the creation of the CollarGate controversy.
