The Witcher season 4 has been released on Netflix on October 30, 2025, continuing the twisting tale of the popular fantasy drama series. In October 2022, the actor announced his exit from the show and further shared Hemsworth's entry in The Witcher season 4. Although the actor did not specify a reason for the replacement, it was confirmed that the actor's other plans made him leave the show after a mutual discussion with the team. More clarity on the matter was provided by showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich through an interview with Entertainment Weekly from September 2025. Stating that Henry Cavill's exit was a mutual decision between him and the show's team, Hissrich said:"He had plans for other roles that he really wanted to commit himself to."This explains Henry Cavill's departure from the show, suggesting that the actor's prior commitments made his return to The Witcher season 4 difficult. Hissrich further elaborated on this and said: "And for us, you don't want to hold someone and force them to be doing something that they don't want to do. Speaking about the moment when the news of his entry was announced, the actor stated: "There was quite a bit of noise and I had to put that aside. It started to become a distraction. I dealt with that sort of thing in the past a lot and, you know, at the end of the day, I love making movies and I love telling stories and acting. Adding to it, he stated:"I just don't want any of that to affect my way of telling the story that I'm trying to tell. I jumped off social media and the internet most of last year."The actor has also spoken about being a fan of Cavill and his performance in the show. In his recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actor spoke about being a fan of Cavill and talked about the experience when he was offered Geralt's role for The Witcher season 4. He mentioned in the interview: "I got a call from my agent sort of out of nowhere and they were like, "Well, how do you feel about stepping on to play The Witcher in the series?" Henry Cavill had done three seasons at that point, and I'm a huge fan of his and what he did with that character."Hemsworth's words indicate that he has attempted to bring a unique touch to Geralt's character while being inspired by Cavill's work in the past three seasons.
