EVERETT — Western Washington University is set to guarantee admissions to certain students who transfer from Everett Community College, the two institutions announced Tuesday.
The Bellingham-based university guarantees entry to Everett Community College students who earn an associate transfer degree in arts or science, at least a 2.5 GPA overall and a GPA of at least 2.0 in their final quarter before transferring to Western. Students will have to complete additional admission steps for certain degree programs, a press release from Everett Community College and Western Washington University read.
“This partnership gives our students a direct path to a four-year degree and removes uncertainty,” wrote Diane Paige, Executive Dean of Transfer Education at the community college, in the press release. “We’re excited to make transferring to Western seamless and to support students as they plan their educational journey from their first day at EvCC.”
Academic advisors at the university and community college are set to work with students to help choose courses that will align with their intended major, the release said.
Everett will become the fifth college from which Western Washington guarantees transfer admissions to students. The others include Olympic College, Peninsula College, Skagit Valley College and Whatcom Community College.
