West Coast 'Superpower’ Labeled Fit for Failed Yankees Reliever

The Los Angeles Dodgers are only three wins away from becoming the first team in the past 25 years to win back-to-back World Series championships. The Dodgers evened out the series against the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 2 on the back of a complete game by Yoshinobu Yamamoto, which was great considering how inconsistent the Dodgers’ bullpen has been this offseason. Rōki Sasaki has been one of the bright spots in Los Angeles’ bullpen, but is hoping to be moved back into a starting role next season. With the Dodgers in need of a reliable closer, Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer listed them as the best fit to land the New York Yankees’ two-time All-Star reliever Devin Williams in free agency this offseason. (Photo by Dustin Satloff/Getty Images) “Devin Williams was arguably the best reliever in baseball between 2022 and 2024, posting a 1.66 ERA and allowing only 67 hits in 141 innings,” Rymer wrote Saturday. “Williams said this month that he’s open to returning to the Yankees, though his preference is to sign with a team as a closer. “Given the presence of David Bednar, that could complicate a reunion. Instead, how about the superpower on the other coast? Unless the Dodgers are going to keep Roki Sasaki in their bullpen — which seems unlikely — they’re going to need to fix what is still a shaky relief corps even now in the World Series.” Williams struggled in his one year with the Yankees after being a bona fide star the past few seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers. The 31-year-old posted a 4.79 ERA with 90 strikeouts in 67 appearances in New York this season, but closed out the season well and would be a great addition for the Dodgers this offseason.
