Wes Streeting just compared Nigel Farage to Brad Pitt, but not in a good way.
The health secretary said the Reform UK leader is the same age as the Hollywood actor “but looks 20 years older”.
Streeting got very personal as he said the Reform UK leader “can’t be trusted” with the nation’s health.
Streeting said he had been left “shocked” by Farage’s refusal to condemn Donald Trump’s evidence-free claim that taking paracetamol during pregnancy can cause autism.
The Reform leader told LBC: “I have no idea… you know, we were told thalidomide was a very safe drug and it wasn’t. Who knows, Nick, I don’t know, you don’t know.”
Appearing on the same radio station on Tuesday, Streeting said: “Despite what all of the medical science and our doctors were saying, when he was asked whose side he was on, he said I don’t have a side.
“Well, that’s not someone who should be trusted with healthcare in our country.”
Streeting then took aim at Reform’s decision to allow an anti-vaccine doctor to speak at their party conference earlier this month.
He said: “The fact that [Farage] chose to give a platform at his conference to someone who said the Covid vaccine gave the Royal Family cancer, says you can’t trust this man with your health.
“And if that’s the sort of health advice Nigel Farage is taking, maybe that’s why he’s the same age as Brad Pitt but looks 20 years older.”
