Welcome to MassLive’s ‘Destinations’: We’re scouring the state so you don’t have to | Nick O’Malley

MassLive is launching a new section called “Destinations.”
The purpose is simple. We want to help you (yes, you, reading this) find the very best to taste, see and experience across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Are you heading to Boston anytime soon? We’re working on a bucket list. Want to try something new for dinner? Check out one of our hidden gems. Want to go on a nice day trip somewhere in the state? We’ve got just the spot.
I’ve been with MassLive for 12 years, and I think that we’ve done some great journalism across the state, covering the stories that matter, the sports teams you follow and the issues that affect us all.
But we can also use a little more fun. That’s where the Destinations section comes in. We’re looking to highlight local businesses, landmarks and events that make Massachusetts great.
We’re not just looking at trendy restaurants and spots around Boston. We want to cover the places that we personally recommend to friends and family.
These places I’m writing about are places I’ve personally recommended to people, whether it’s Crepes Tea House in Western Mass., Yume Dumplings in Worcester or Cider Hill Farm up on the New Hampshire border.
We plan to do a little bit of everything in hopes of highlighting spots that everyone can enjoy. It’ll be a mix of food and fun. We’ll have places for families and spots for older crowds.
Sometimes we’ll look at hidden gems. Other times, we’ll check out famous attractions to see if they’re “tourist traps” or get a bad wrap.
For those who have been following my column, “I ate it so you don’t have to,” be ready for a lot more goofy columns on weird food – and even goofier videos on our social media page.
I’ll also be working on a regular series simply called, “Nick Ate It.” This will be a spot where I can highlight awesome local restaurants and businesses doing fun things without adding “so you don’t have to.”
How will we pick which destinations to cover? We’re all over the state, so we’ll be using plenty of our own experience.
But we also want to hear from you, our readers. You know your communities, from the best restaurants to go-to day trips.
If you’re willing to let the secret out, we would love to know more about which destinations we should be covering.
If you have a restaurant, business or destination you think MassLive should report on, email me at nomalley@masslive.com. You can also shoot me a message on social media, particularly on Instagram @NickAteIt.
I hope you’ll follow along. If there’s anything we’ve missed, don’t be afraid to reach out. We’re right here. Hopefully, we’ll visit your favorite spot soon.
