The future of The Conjuring horror franchise is a lot more thrilling now for one compelling reason. Since the first movie was released in 2013, we've enjoyed watching Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson) investigate the supernatural, and the successful 2025 film The Conjuring: Last Rites continues their scary story and adds some more emotional and personal elements. It can be tough to maintain the high quality of a film franchise, especially in the horror genre, when we've seen so many twists and kills that it's hard to be surprised and wowed. But there's something promsing about The Conjuring show. HBO Max's Conjuring Show Sounds More Exciting After It: Welcome To Derry After watching It: Welcome to Derry, we can feel more positive about HBO Max's The Conjuring TV show. Although several film franchises have tried to make it on the small screen, from Star Wars to several Marvel projects, including the disappointing Secret Invasion, the results haven't been great. But, since It: Welcome to Derry has been impressive, it's easy to imagine The Conjuring TV show being just as good. The HBO Max show has gotten positive reviews, and King fans are enjoying stepping into this world again, proving there's a desire for horror storytelling on TV. If we were skeptical about whether a Conjuring series was actually necessary, we can look to It: Welcome to Derry as a positive sign. The Stephen King prequel is actually frightening, which is a plus. Since the supernatural forces that the Warrens look into are genuinely chilling, there are so many ways to bring that eerie tone onto the small screen. Although there are no plot details at the time of this writing, it would make sense for the series to take place in another haunted house. This trope is at the center of the story and is the setting for some epic jump scares we're still thinking about. What The Conjuring Show Can Learn From HBO Max's It Prequel It's unclear what the story of The Conjuring TV show is going to be, and we're not sure if it will be a prequel or take place after the events of the most recent movie. However, it would be great if The Conjuring show were a prequel like It: Welcome to Derry because there is so much of Ed and Lorraine's story left to tell. According to CT Insider, the Warrens created their business, New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), back in 1952. It would be fun if The Conjuring show focused on that time in their life, and if we found out more about why they started this unique and scary line of work. The It prequel remembers what we really want to see — the creepy clown Pennywise, of course — and also fills in gaps in the story since it takes place in 1962, several decades before the films It and It: Chapter 2, which have a 1980s setting. Similarly, The Conjuring show should feature the killer doll Annabelle and make sure it's telling a new part of the Warrens' life story. It should also be inspired by It: Welcome to Derry's Stephen King Easter eggs. These would be enjoyable rewards for fans who have been watching since 2013. But, of course, these references to previous movies would have to be smart and well-placed. Otherwise, we'll wonder if The Conjuring TV project should have just been another film.
