Limited-time holiday menu items at Walt Disney World include the Sausage and Butternut Squash Ragu, Gingerbread Cake, and Candy Cane Shake, available at various value resort quick-service locations. Here are our thoughts! *NEW* Sausage and Butternut Squash Ragu – $10.49 Fennel sausage, butternut squash, and kale in a creamy tomato sauce (Mobile order available) This is typical overcooked Disney pasta, however, the sauce is nice red sauce. It reminded us of a vodka sauce with a hint of sweetness. We like kale and think there could have been more. The squash is well cooked and adds some texture. If you like squash, you’ll be happy. If you don’t, you can easily pick around it. The sausage is heavy on the fennel flavor and there’s a lot of it for the price. The temperature was not consistent. It’s a decent pasta offering to mix it up from the norm but nothing amazing. Rating out of 7: 5 *NEW* Gingerbread Cake – $5.79 Gingerbread cake, caramel ganache filling, caramel crispy pearls, eggnog pastry cream, and white chocolate (Mobile order available) This is exploding with heavy gingerbread flavor. But the exterior, which already looks bad, has a weird chemical taste that ruins the moist cake inside. The eggnog frosting also doesn’t do the treat any favors. The caramel ganache ratio is ridiculous but it doesn’t too bad. This could’ve been nice if it was just the cake with a thin layer of ganache and a simple frosting on top. The fake coating and food dye ruins it. Rating out of 7: 2 *NEW* Candy Cane Shake – $6.99 Choice of vanilla or chocolate peppermint shake with whipped cream, peppermint pieces, and a cherry (Non-alcoholic) This was surprisingly good. We appreciate how simple it is. We got vanilla and it’s essentially a regular shake with peppermint flavoring mixed in and candy cane sprinkles on top. You can add whipped cream and a cherry. It’s nothing too out there, it’s just a well done holiday shake for a decent price.
