Wawa Issues Recall for Milk and Lemonade Products

Wawa has issued a recall for a few beverages sold in its stores. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the company is voluntarily recalling its strawberry lemonade, strawberry milk, lowfat milk and whole milk, which were sold at Wawa stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. Wawa issued the recall on Sept. 23 due to a potential foreign object contamination. The following products have been recalled: Wawa Strawberry Lemonade in 16-ounce plastic bottles. The code date is Nov. 7. The Universal Product Code is 007626191018982. A total of 2,750 units were distributed. Wawa Lowfat Strawberry Milk in 16-ounce plastic bottles. The code date is Oct. 6. The UPC is 00726191015134. A total of 30 units were distributed. Wawa Whole Milk in 16-ounce plastic bottles. The code date is Oct. 9. The UPC is 00726191014403. A total of 154 units were distributed. Universal Product Codes may vary, but Wawa says, if you own a bottle that matches the product, size and date listed above, you should not consume it. This recall is being classified by the FDA as Class II, meaning the products in question could “cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.” In a statement to NBC10, Wawa said it issued the recall as a “precautionary measure.” “The recall impacted a limited quantity of products in a limited number of stores,” said the convenience store chain. “Those products were immediately removed from sale.” Should customers have any questions, Wawa encourages customers to contact the company at wawa.com/iframe/contact or at 1-800-444-9292. Wawa has been in business for over 200 years. The company, which has stores that stretch across the East Coast of the United States, serves more than 1 billion customers annually.
