Waterloo Road actor Reece Douglas has shared the devastating news that his father has tragically taken his own life. Reece became part of the BBC school drama's cast in 2009, portraying Denzil Kelly. His storyline saw him battling to find his place at school amid a troubled home life and challenging family circumstances. His character met his end in series seven during 2012 when he perished in a lorry crash while journeying to Scotland. However, his acting journey was far from over - in fact, it was merely the start reports the Mirror . Reece went on to appear in programmes including Doctors, Casualty and Holby City but has since moved away from acting to forge a fresh path in technology. He now serves as CEO of tech start-up Social Plug. The firm "connects brands and agencies to content creators". On Thursday, October 30 he told of the heartbreaking news via social media. He turned to Instagram to post a moving tribute to his father. Posting a photograph showing him and his dad beaming together, he penned: "I love you so much dad. Knowing my dad recently, more so than ever, never did I truly know he'd take his life. I'm going to make you so proud." His 13,000 followers were swift to express their support in the comments section, with one stating: "So sorry to hear this @reecedouglas1. Thinking of you and your family. You'll continue to make him proud everyday. Sending so much love". Another penned: "I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it doesn't help the pain but he is now not in pain and watching over you. I'm 1000000% sure he couldn't have been prouder of you." Emmerdale's Danny Miller remarked: "Oh mate I'm so sorry! Sending loads of love brother". Former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actor Anthony Quinn wrote: "Sorry to hear the news mate.
