STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Driving on Staten Island can be challenging, especially when drivers neglect the basic traffic laws to save a few seconds.
Dash cam video recently submitted to the Advance/SILive.com shows a driver on Staten Island making a reckless turn on Forest Avenue.
Recorded around 3:40 p.m., the video starts by showing typical afternoon traffic on Forest Avenue at the intersection of Willow Road West in Graniteville.
In the first few seconds of the clip, a blue compact SUV is seen approaching the steady red light at the intersection, taking the lead position in the left lane.
In the background, pedestrians are seen walking in front of the cars at the intersection while cross traffic turns onto Forest Avenue.
Then, after waiting about 15 seconds, the driver begins rolling forward through the red light, seemingly checking for more cross traffic.
Once into the intersection, the driver of the vehicle accelerates and turns right from the left lane onto Willow Road West before leaving the frame of the dash cam.
