Watch: Abhishek Sharma Takes Stunning Diving Catch To Redeem Himself Vs Pakistan

After dropping two catches, Indian opener Abhishek Sharma took a blinding diving grab to take the wicket of Saim Ayub against Pakistan in the Super Four clash of the 2025 Asia Cup at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday (September 21).
It happened in the 11th over. All-rounder Shivam Dube bowled a length ball against Ayub, which took a bit of extra bounce and climbed up on the left-hander, taking the top-edge high in the air over deep square leg. Abhishek and Kuldeep Yadav converged on it, but it was closer to the former who went with the dive and grabbed it brilliantly. Watch it here:

It was a good ploy from captain Suryakumar Yadav, as not many would have expected that Dube’s part-time pace would get a chance at that key stage. The wicket reduced Pakistan to 93/2.
For Abhishek, who jumped back to his feet to let out a big scream, it would have been a moment of pure relief. He dropped Sahibzada Farhan, who was still batting at the other end when Ayub got out, twice before this catch.
The first drop in the first over of the innings. Farhan swung hard at a wide ball from Hardik Pandya, which took a top-edge over deep third. Abhishek was placed there but didn’t read the trajectory well.
The second was in the eighth over when Farhan hoicked a big shot to deep mid-wicket. It was more difficult as Abhishek had to run and then leap high to catch it with his wrong hand, but his placement was wrong and the ball didn’t stick, going over the line for a six.
Interestingly, the other man interested in the Ayub catch, Kuldeep Yadav, had also dropped a catch in the fifth over. Ayub got a top-edge on a slog sweep which went high over short third. The spinner settled under it nicely but the ball bounced off his palms.
