Body camera footage that showed drivers failing to stop when children were on a zebra crossing has prompted a council to try and raise safety awareness. Hertfordshire County Council has equipped school crossing patrol staff with body cameras to help identify drivers who ignored crossing rules. Paul Zukowskyj, a Liberal Democrat councillor and cabinet member for environment, transport and growth, described footage of a lollipop woman nearly being hit by a car as "completely outrageous". All footage was passed on to police and offending drivers could face penalties, including points on their licence or mandatory speed awareness courses.
