Watch: 500-strong NI Rock Choir celebrates Giant birthday by performing at iconic landmark

Last month, more than 500 Rock Choir members from across Northern Ireland came together to make history, performing at the iconic Giant’s Causeway . This marks the first time any choir has filmed at this location and is believed to be the largest choir performance ever staged in this venue. The singers performed ‘Dreams’ by Irish legends The Cranberries in a "breathtaking rendition set against the dramatic coastal backdrop". A spokesperson said: "The performance has been captured in a beautifully shot music video - a visual celebration of natural beauty and the harmonious power of the human voice. "It highlights Rock Choir’s rapid growth and reputation for delivering exceptional musical experiences in unique and inspiring settings. "For many of the participants, it was a ‘bucket list’ moment and a rare opportunity to sing in such an iconic setting." Edward Mason, General Manager of The Giant’s Causeway said: "The heartfelt rendition of Dreams by The Cranberries left the Giant’s Causeway team absolutely speechless – the atmosphere was nothing short of magical!" Launched three years ago, Rock Choir has surged in popularity - now supported by over 33,000 members across the UK, Rock Choir Ireland alone counts more than 1,000 singers in Belfast and the surrounding region. The video release coincides with Rock Choir Ireland’s thirs anniversary and also marks the launch of a new charity partnership that the choir is proud to support with the Northern Ireland Mental Health Arts Festival. The festival, held each May, champions mental well-being, combats stigma, and brings communities together through the arts all year round. Noelle McAlinden, Co-Chair of Northern Ireland Mental Health Arts Festival said: “We’ve witnessed first-hand the power of communal singing through Rock Choir — a compassionate, creative community where every voice is valued. "You've lifted spirits, brought solace, nurtured expression, and helped people discover voices they didn’t know they had. We at the NI Mental Health Arts Festival are truly grateful for your invaluable contribution across NI. "We’re dedicated to challenging stigma and celebrating creativity and self-expression in mental health and well-being. Your work makes visible the power of the arts — not only for those who sing, but for those who listen." The charity’s ethos is a perfect partnership with Rock Choir, and the video provides a powerful way to highlight the mental health benefits of singing together, especially outdoors in nature. Clare Galway, one of six Rock Choir Leaders across Northern Ireland, conducted and contributed a haunting violin solo in the video. She said: “It was a truly powerful afternoon. 500 voices blending effortlessly together, set against the most incredible backdrop of the Giant’s Causeway. To sing at such a symbolic and poetic landmark was deeply connecting — almost ethereal. "The clouds cleared, the sun shone, and we felt proud to be part of Northern Ireland’s musical and cultural landscape.” The full video will be available on the Rock Choir’s social media pages now.
