Wasim Akram gives up on Pakistan Cricket Team after India bashing in Asia Cup 2025

Pakistan’s misery against India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 turned into another nightmare, and the frustration was written all over the faces of fans and former players. Legendary pacer Wasim Akram could not hold back his emotions as he admitted that it has become painful to watch Pakistan repeatedly hammering against their biggest rivals, India.
Wasim Akram expressed his disappointment after Pakistan’s yet another defeat against India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. On September 21, the Men in Green were crushed by the Indian cricket team by six wickets in their Super Four clash in Dubai. They had also faced a crushing seven-wicket defeat in the group match against the Men in Blue.
Wasim Akram says Pakistan can’t match India anymore
The Super Four match had started with hope as they smashed their highest-ever T20I Powerplay score against India. At 91 runs in just 10 overs, the Men in Green looked ready to finally turn the tide, but then they faced another batting collapse, and they could post only 171/5 on the board.

India, ruthless as ever, made a mockery of the chase. The Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill had fun with Pakistan’s bowling attack, as they stitched a 105-run stand inside 9 overs. Later, Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 30 takes them to an easy win over the Pakistani side.
Unbelievable: Wasim Akram on Mohammad Nawaz’s bizarre dismissal
During Pakistan’s batting collapse, Mohammad Nawaz produced a comic moment that stunned one and all. In the 19th over, Nawaz casually strolled back to his crease, and he was not aware that the ball was still alive. But Suryakumar Yadav didn’t make any mistake as the Indian captain crashed the stumps with a sharp throw and sent Nawaz back in utter embarrassment.
Nawaz’s bizarre run-out left Pakistan’s dressing room fuming, while head coach Mike Hesson buried his face in disbelief. Reacting to the all-rounder’s dismissal, Wasim Akram said that he doesn’t have the words to explain his feelings.
Akram said on-air, “Unbelievable. I’m literally speechless.”

It is tough to watch Pakistan: Wasim Akram
Furthermore, the legendary fast bowler and former captain has openly admitted that India’s depth, talent, and consistency have left Pakistan far behind, and the gap is only widening now.
Akram was quoted as saying by Sony Sports Network: “I am going to speak my heart out. It is tough to watch Pakistan. I understand, as an ex-player, winning and losing that part of the game. But again, India has outplayed Pakistan in every department over the last four or five years.
Once or twice, we have won here and there, but it has been incredible for India. The talent, the depth, everything. One or two catches can be dropped in any game; that is fine. But from 91 in the first 10 overs, when we fail to reach 200, there is nothing to say.”
India vs Pakistan is no longer the fierce rivalry it once was, and even Suryakumar Yadav highlighted the reality by mentioning how India dominates with skill and strategy, while Pakistan struggles to keep up. They are not set to face Sri Lanka in their next game on September 23.
