Want to continue this momentum of doubling our revenue every three years: Sodexo India MD Sambit Sahu

France headquartered food services and facilities management company Sodexo aims to continue the momentum of doubling its revenues every three years in India, Sambit Sahu, MD of Sodexo India told ET in an interview. The company clocked revenues of Rs 3700 crore in its recently concluded fiscal year.“Our growth in the last financial year has been excellent. We have grown more than 2 x in the food category in the last three years. Food is common as the go-to-market strategy for all four segments that we are focusing on, which is, schools and universities, corporate (office and manufacturing), energy and resources (offshore and onshore), and healthcare,” said Sahu.“This year has been great from a double engine growth perspective for our food business as well as our facilities management business. India is one of the top five geographies in terms of net growth for food and facilities management,” he added.Sahu said the company is growing 15% and above in all segments in food.“But, the three segments where we have seen a multiplier effect of growth is corporate office food. GCCs are really helping us in terms of this acceleration. We have almost grown 7 x in the last three years in the office food segment,” said Sahu. Live Events“The other segment is healthcare and education which is universities and medical colleges, select international schools and a lot of focus is on retail. We are the largest in manufacturing food. Our clients range from auto to pharma to players in the semiconductors space. The government’s Make in India programme is helping us, and our scale can range from 60,000 to up to one lakh meals a day,” he added.Events is also a big business for Sodexo India in terms of showcasing its culinary capabilities.“Offsite is a big part of our strategy to further accelerate. We will cover all major metros by December 2026. It means adding a capacity of 2 lakh meals per day and it will add approximately 10% to our food revenues,” he added.The company’s offsite segment caters to offices which can’t have their own kitchens.Sahu said globally, India is not just seen as a fast growing region for the group, but it’s also the enabler for growth across the region.“The GCC for Sodexo is based out of India. A lot of R&D happens in the country. Besides solutioning for data and digital, a lot of standardization of processes happens in India. We are also supporting other geographies like Australia and Southeast Asia. So, we have a big lever in terms of being the largest procurer of supplies,” he added.Sahu said India has 60,000 employees, constituting 15% to its overall global resources.“There has been a shift in the way India’s importance has grown. Our business with large accounts in India is helping us grow our business in the other geographies like the US and Europe. We have a highly engaged workforce.
