Piedmont Triad International Airport will offer its next federal Transportation Security Administration PreCheck enrollment sessions on Oct. 6-10.
The cost of a PreCheck membership is $78. It is valid for five years.
The PreCheck program is an expedited screening program that “enables identified low-risk air travelers to enjoy a faster and easier airport screening experience.” The program is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and lawful permanent residents.
The sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 1 to 5 p.m. daily. The screening process features an in-person background check and fingerprinting. Applicants are asked to bring proof of identity and U.S. citizenship.
For PreCheck-approved travelers, shoes, light outerwear and belts are not required to be removed from carry-on bags, nor are 3-1-1 liquids or laptops.
Each passenger may carry liquids, gels and aerosols in travel-size containers that are 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters. Each passenger is limited to one quart-size bag of liquids, gels and aerosols. According to the tsa.gov website, common travel items that must comply with the 3-1-1 liquids rule include toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash and lotion.
Appointments are requested at https://tsaenrollmentbyidemia.tsa.dhs.gov/programs/precheck, but walk-ins are welcome as time permits. Applicants are required to fill out an online pre-enrollment application at https://www.tsa.gov/precheck.

Following the in-person enrollment, most applicants receive their Known Traveler Number in about three to five days. The number must be added to flight reservations to enjoy TSA PreCheck benefits.
People who cannot attend the PTI enrollment event but are still interested in enrolling in TSA PreCheck can complete the application online and schedule an appointment at an Idemia enrollment center nationwide.
Idemia is an authorized enrollment provider of TSA PreCheck.
Enrolled members can access TSA PreCheck dedicated screening lanes at more than 200 participating U.S. airports nationwide.
For more information, call the authority at 336-665-5600.
Triad residents have another option for securing PreCheck enrollment at the Telos Corp. location within the Office Depot at 2400 Battleground Ave. in Greensboro.
New TSA PreCheck applicants can pre-enroll or schedule an enrollment appointment by visiting the authorized Telos TSA PreCheck website, https://tsaprecheckbytelos.tsa.dhs.gov.
Current TSA PreCheck members can renew directly on Telos’ authorized TSA PreCheck website, regardless of the provider they originally enrolled with.
