Walk 100 miles in November to support good mental health for all

People in Lanarkshire are being encouraged to walk 100 miles in November to support good mental health for all. The weather may be getting colder and the days shorter, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay indoors and hibernate. This November, the Mental Health Foundation is inviting residents to embrace the crisp air, get outside, and walk 100 miles to support mental health. The charity’s Walk 100 Miles in November challenge is free to join and open to everyone of all ages. Participants can take part at their own pace, in their own way, throughout the month, all in support of the charity’s mission to deliver good mental health for all. Zoe Lonergan, senior fundraising manager at Mental Health Foundation, said: "This challenge is about more than just miles, it’s about movement, mindfulness, and boosting your mental health. "Whether it’s a brisk morning walk, a weekend hike, or a gentle stroll through your local park, moving your body can do wonders for your wellbeing "Everyone deserves good mental health and every step you on take this challenge will help us build a society where everyone can thrive." There is no registration fee, and participants can sign up at any time. However, those who register early can receive a free Mental Health Foundation T-shirt (while stocks last). Anyone who raises at least £30 will get a free beanie. The challenge is designed to be inclusive for all abilities so whether you walk, roll, or stroll, every mile counts. Key details: Challenge dates: November 1-30. Goal: Walk 100 miles in your own time, at your own pace. Cost: Free to join. Registration: Open now at mentalhealth.org.uk/walk100 Fundraising Target: Whatever you can raise - every contribution matters. Taking part in the challenge offers more than just a fundraising opportunity, it’s a good way to support your own wellbeing: Regular physical activity can reduce stress, improve mood, and boost energy levels. Spending time outdoors, even in colder months, helps us feel grounded and more present. Walking with friends, family, or colleagues can strengthen relationships and reduce feelings of isolation. And taking on a challenge to support others is a meaningful act of compassion, and kindness is proven to benefit our own mental health too. No matter how far you go, your effort will help create a future where good mental health is a reality for all.
