VS Hospitals on Wednesday launched a Holistic Oncology Program for Excellence (HOPE) and a Department of Precision Oncology. Rohini Molleti, actor and social worker, launched the initiatives in the presence of S. Subramanian, senior medical oncologist, and founder chairman and managing director of the hospital. Nithya Sridharan, associate director and senior consultant, Medical Oncology, said the vision of HOPE was to deliver compassionate, comprehensive, and integrative cancer care that blends precision oncology with holistic healing. The scope of services include precision and integrative oncology (advanced diagnostics, molecular profiling, targeted and immune therapies, and multidisciplinary tumour boards with holistic care), nutrition and lifestyle (individualised cancer-specific diets, nutrition during therapy and long-term preventive plans), psycho-oncology and mind care, physical rehabilitation, palliative and supportive care. The Department of Precision Oncology will have comprehensive molecular tumour boards, molecular guided therapies based on biomarkers, and organ specific and minimally invasive surgeries, she said. The Department of Genetics, which was also launched, will focus on genetic counselling and diagnostics, risk assessment for hereditary cancers and rare diseases, as well as personalised preventive plans.
