Locals and visitors can enjoy an ice rink in a Denbighshire town later this month. The Mayor of Prestatyn hopes the attraction will bring a "wow" factor and increase footfall. The rink will be operated in Prestatyn town centre on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22. Organised by Prestatyn Town Council, it will open as the public also enjoy the town’s Winter Fest and Christmas lights switch-on. It will be set up at The Cookhouse pub and restaurant's car park between 1pm to 7pm on November 21, and 10am to 8pm on November 22. It will cost users £5 per session. The North Wales Live Whatsapp community for top stories and breaking news is live now - here’s how to sign up Mayor of Prestatyn Cllr Carol Holliday told North Wales Live: “I hope people will see that we are doing something for the residents and the community of Prestatyn to try and increase the footfall and and to make it a 'wow' place to visit." She added: "As mayor for Prestatyn this year, I am trying to promote the town, and what it can offer residents and visitors to our lovely town. “I hope that the rink will bring people into the town, and they will see what a wide range of independent shops and a retail park we have to enjoy." Cllr Holliday, who said there will also be an illuminated arch in the town again this year, said: "Beaumaris have got a rink and Cheshire Oaks have got one. Our price is very reasonable." Asked whether she will skate herself she said: "I wouldn't say no!" Prestatyn’s Christmas lights switch-on event will be between 1pm and 6pm on November 21, with a Father Christmas grotto and rides. The Winter Fest event offering food and drink stalls and entertainment will be held on November 22 from 10am to 8pm.
