Here are the nominees for this week’s News & Record High School Football Player of the Week.

Michael Boone Jr., Dudley: The 6-foot, 190-pound junior running back followed his 204-yard rushing performance against Ragsdale up with 23 carries for 115 yards in the Panthers’ 21-17 Metro 6A/7A Conference win over Page. Early in the fourth quarter, with the Panthers down 17-14, Boone had three consecutive carries for 49 yards to set up quarterback Brayden Jeffries’ go-ahead three-yard rushing touchdown.
Vermont Carmack, Dudley: The 6-foot-4 major 2027 recruit touched the ball the three times in the 21-17 conference win over Page: a six-yard touchdown catch on a slant corner, a two-point conversion catch on a left fade and on defense, caught an interception with 6:55 left in the third quarter that gave the Panthers the ball at the Page 17.
Brock Blizzard, Morehead: The 5-foot-11, 185-pound senior had two blocked punts as the Panthers defeated Bartlett Yancey 14-13 to earn their first victory under coach Tony McCants and snap the program’s eight-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Juhnahzae Perkins, Morehead: The freshman had eight carries for 84 yards, including the game-deciding 50-yard touchdown run as the Panthers won for the first time this season, the first time under first-year coach Tony McCants and for the first time overall in nine games going back to the 2024 season.
Christopher Armstrong, Page: The Pirates’ senior wide receiver had four catches for 91 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown with 36 seconds left in the first half and a 24-yard catch on Page’s final possession that gave them a first down and the ball at the Dudley 9, down 21-17, with 2:11 left.
Frankie Galloway, Reidsville: The 5-foot-10, 165-pound senior wide receiver three catches for 67 yards and a touchdown, with a long of 49 yards.
Dionte Neal, Reidsville: The do-it-all Division I prospect had an eight-yard touchdown carry, was 3 of 4 passing for 48 yards and two touchdowns and had four catches for 117 yards and two touchdowns against a Carver defense that previously only allowed six total points and had shut out its last four opponents.
Zyon Patterson, Smith: In the Golden Eagles’ 15-7 Metro 6A/7A Conference win over Southwest Guilford, he had seven tackles, a team-high four for loss, a team-high 1.5 sacks and two hurries against the Cowboys to snap a three-game losing streak.
