Vogue Williams opened up about being in the “deepest, darkest hole” after realising that alcohol was damaging her mental health . The popular podcaster turned 40 earlier this month and in recent days her husband, Spencer Matthews , surprised her with a birthday bash. Afterwards, the Irish mum-of-three wrote on Instagram: “You’ll be glad to hear I’m finished celebrating the never-ending 40th. An epic night thrown by @spencermatthews for our London pals and a couple of Irish thrown in.” However, after experiencing the high of what was a night to remember, she admitted to being down in recent days. Speaking to Joanne McNally on their My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast, Vogue said: “I actually haven’t been happy at all because of my birthday party. “I’ve been in the deepest, darkest hole because I’m not able to drink and I won’t have it anymore. Everyone’s making me drink all the time. It’s not good for my mental health. “There’s been a lot of, a lot of tears. I decided then on Sunday, I was like, that’s it. And if anyone says to me, ‘go on, have a drink,’ I’ll say, ‘Do you know what? No, because it’s really bad for my mental health.’ “I’m pulling out the mental health card because it’s true.” Comedian Joanne replied: “Yeah, go full Gen Z on it. I agree, develop an allergy, go hard.” Vogue then added: “That’s absolutely it. I’m allergic to it and it’s bad for my mental health. You can’t really argue with any of that.” Vogue enjoyed her first week of being 40 by relaxing in the Turkish sun with Spencer and their children Theodore, Gigi and Otto. And Spencer posted a selection of holiday snaps on his social media and paying tribute to his wife, he wrote: “HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY to my incredibly beautiful, funny, awesome, cool, talented, babe of a wife. “People like you don’t come around often in life… I admire you in so many ways and you’re a remarkable mama to our children. “Personally, I love it when people tell me I’m punching, not only because that’s obviously the goal, but because it reminds me of how lucky I am to have you in my life because it’s true. “You’re a superstar and I LOVE YOU.” Spencer and Vogue first met on the set of The Jump back in 2017 before they tied the knot just one year later. They now split their time between London and Howth and giving an insight into their home life, Spencer recently revealed on his Untapped YouTube channel that Vogue is not a fan of him leaving things lying around the house. He said: “Whenever I have anything lying around the house, and I mean anything at all, it could be a package that I've not even seen or opened yet or had anything to do with, right? “It's by the door, I will get an earful from my wife saying, 'What is this? Move it. Make sure that it's not around. It's cluttering the house.'"
