VIT, SUNY University sign MoU on health sciences

The SUNY Upstate Medical University in New York, USA, and the VIT in Vellore signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and research collaborations in health sciences, biomedical engineering, and translational medicine. According to a press release, the agreement was signed by David C. Amberg, Vice President for Research, SUNY Upstate Medical University, and Sekar Viswanathan, vice-president, VIT. The collaboration aims to advance joint research, faculty and student exchanges, and the development of academic programmes in emerging areas of biomedical innovation and translational healthcare. For VIT’s School of Health Science and Engineering (SHINE), a programme rooted in clinical engineering and translational health technologies, this partnership marks a major step towards global engagement. It will enable collaborative research, PhD co-mentorship, and training opportunities at SUNY Upstate, while allowing students to learn directly from clinicians with international perspectives. The collaboration will also facilitate joint funding initiatives, clinical trial partnerships, and technology transfer efforts. On the occasion, Lawrence Chin, Dean, College of Medicine, Christopher Neville, Assistant Vice President of Research Administration and Mark Schmitt, Dean, College of Graduate Studies, SUNY Upstate Medical University, were present, the release said.
