CBS reality series Survivor honored crew member Vince Costello with an on-screen dedication during the Season 49 premiere. The memorial card read “In loving memory of Vince Costello, forever in our hearts.”Costello, 61, worked on Survivor for nearly a decade, serving from 2016 through 2025. Prior to joining the Emmy-winning reality show, he contributed to approximately 50 television and film productions.As Location Manager for Survivor, Costello was responsible for scouting and securing filming locations throughout production. No official cause of death has been announced.Executive producer Jesse Jensen established a GoFundMe campaign earlier in 2025, revealing that Costello had been diagnosed with late-stage Hepatocellular Carcinoma, commonly known as liver cancer.”Vince’s diagnosis is life threatening and he and his family have had to leave Fiji and temporarily relocate to Australia to get the treatment and support that he needs,” Jensen wrote in the fundraising description. “Vince has always given so much to all of us — through his work, his kindness, and most of all his friendship. It’s been good,” Aline Costello told People magazine about working with her father.Son Patrick Costello, 21, spent his teenage years at the Survivor base camp before joining production.
