Footage has emerged of dozens of planes lined up on a runway at Newark International Airport in New Jersey on Sunday. In the video, shared by the X account @Breaking911, which has over 1.2 million followers and shares American news on the social-media platform, the planes can be seen waiting in line—many of them United Airlines planes. A line of approximately 40 planes can also be seen in a screenshot of the flight tracking website Flightradar24, shared by X user Zach Griff, at the airport. Since the videos were shared, Newark airport has been closed as of November 10 at 12 am local time, and is not expected to open until December 31, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This comes as flights have been delayed and cancelled across the country due to reduced staffing levels as a result of the ongoing federal government shutdown. In order to combat the travel chaos, the FAA ordered airlines to cut back on air traffic and travel in 40 airports nationwide, and many flights over the weekend were canceled. More to follow...
